Tokyo-based artist Kawachi Koshi, known for his “Tasty” Buddha series, introduced “MANGA Farming” at a recent installation in Matsuzakaya department store (Nagoya). For MANGA Farming, Kawachi used old manga-zines as a growth agent for radish sprouts. While the technique is certainly novel and commercially attractive, the installation also explores greater themes of pop culture, humor and sustainability.
