Featured Artist: Ulu Braun

Berlin-based artist Ulu Braun masterfully orchestrates video montage installations that blur the boundaries between lived and virtual space. With a background in a prominent street art collective, Braun integrates a playful (and at times unexpected) clash of characters and scenes within familiar environments. His recent 2011 work, The Park, was presented earlier this year at Los Angeles’ Young Projects. Multiple high definition screen projectors open unto Braun’s fantasy world, pleasant but nevertheless bizarre, the camera pans this strange reality with a seemingly objective eye and unusually calm pace. Braun’s projected video works speak to his Renaissance desire for painting to act as a window onto the world, into a window of simulated existence.
